The Mac app needs no glimsr account, and its preferences stay on your Mac. It gets the updates you choose directly from their sources. For current-location weather, coordinates are rounded to about 1 km before the request and aren’t retained by the app.

What does glimsr show?
Headlines from selected feeds, live or paused football scores, current weather, and the track and artist currently playing in Spotify for Mac. You can choose which sources appear.
Does it need an account?
No. The Mac app has no glimsr account or glimsr-hosted app service. Your settings are stored on your Mac, and the app requests data from the sources you select.
How does Spotify now playing work?
glimsr detects local playback from the Spotify Mac app. macOS may ask you to allow access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation. There is no in-app Spotify sign-in.
What happens when I first open the download?
This release is not notarized. macOS may show a security warning; you can open it from Finder with Control-click → Open, then confirm. Only install it if you’re comfortable overriding that warning.
