Who is responsible
glimsr is operated by the owner of this service. The operator is responsible for personal information submitted through this website and its support form. For privacy questions or requests, contact us through the support form.
Information collected on this website
You can browse the glimsr website without creating an account. The site does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not load third-party fonts.
When you visit, the VPS host and network proxy necessarily process connection information to deliver and protect the site. This may include your IP address, requested page, request time, browser and network headers. The website does not keep page-by-page access logs.
If you use the support form, we collect the email address you provide, your message, and your name if you choose to include it. The form also uses your IP address in temporary memory to limit abusive submissions. Rate-limit entries are removed shortly after their one-hour window. We do not ask for attachments; please do not include passwords or sensitive information.
How support requests are used
We use your name, email address and message to understand and respond to your request. The basis for this use is our legitimate interest in providing the support you asked for.
When you send the form, the message is delivered using Google’s SMTP email service to the support inbox configured for glimsr. It is not stored in a glimsr website database. Support email is kept in that inbox for as long as it is needed to respond and handle follow-up, then deleted when it is no longer needed, unless a record must be kept for a legal or security reason. Google’s own privacy policy applies to its handling of email.
The support service keeps limited operational logs such as the request path and delivery result. Logs do not contain your message or email address and are rotated automatically. They are used to operate and protect the form.
How the Mac app works
The Mac app has no glimsr account and does not send your preferences or ticker contents to a glimsr app service. Preferences are stored on your Mac.
The app requests the information you select directly from its source: RSS or Atom publishers for headlines, ESPN for football data, and Open-Meteo for weather and city lookup. Those providers receive the requests from your Mac and handle them under their own privacy policies.
If you use current-location weather, glimsr asks macOS for location access and rounds the coordinates to about 1 km before sending them to Open-Meteo. The app does not retain those coordinates. If you choose a city, its name is stored locally on your Mac.
Spotify now playing is detected from the Spotify Mac app when macOS allows glimsr automation access. The current Settings screen does not offer a Spotify account sign-in. Your Mac may show an Automation permission prompt for this feature.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not use advertising cookies, analytics, or cross-site tracking. It uses a small script for the mobile menu and copyright year; that script stores no information in your browser.
Sharing and international processing
We do not sell personal information. Support form data is shared with the VPS and network provider needed to host the site and Google’s email service to deliver your message. These providers may process technical or email data outside the UK under their own privacy terms. See Google’s privacy policy for its handling of email.
For the Mac app, the selected RSS publisher, ESPN, Open-Meteo, Apple’s macOS location services, and Spotify may receive the requests needed for the features you enable. glimsr does not operate a central account or analytics service for the app.
Your choices and rights
You can choose whether to submit the support form and whether to provide your name. You can ask us to access, correct or delete support information, or to restrict or object to its use where applicable. Use the support form to make a request. We aim to respond within one calendar month; where the law allows more time, we will let you know.
If you are in the UK and remain concerned, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the website or app changes. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised.
